Dr. Tariq Hendawi is a nationally recognized, board-certified orthopedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. Known for his skill in treating complex shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries, Dr. Hendawi combines advanced surgical expertise with a personalized, patient-first approach to help athletes and active individuals return to peak performance.
Dr. Hendawi trained under the legendary Dr. James R. Andrews at the world-renowned Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida. He cared for elite athletes from the NFL, MLB, and NCAA, including serving as a team physician for Auburn University. His surgical training began during residency at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, where he worked alongside the team physicians of the New Orleans Saints (NFL) and New Orleans Pelicans (NBA).
A Louisiana State University (LSU) alumnus, Dr. Hendawi graduated Cum Laude from his undergraduate class. He was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society during his time at LSU School of Medicine, an honor reserved for the top medical graduates in the country.
Since joining TMI Sports Medicine & Orthopedics in 2019, Dr. Hendawi has worked closely with his mentor, Dr. Keith Meister, refining cutting-edge techniques in Tommy John (UCL) reconstruction and other advanced elbow procedures. He has served as a Team Physician for the Texas Rangers (MLB) and currently serves as the Head Orthopedic Surgeon for the Dallas Wings (WNBA), as well as many local high schools and colleges.
