Spine

Neck and back pain will affect most Americans at some point in their life. Most of the time, the etiology of the pain is related to muscle sprains or strains and usually resolves after several weeks. However, there are several disorders that can cause recalcitrant pain and disability related to the injury and compression to the nervous system. These diagnoses usually manifest as pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the arms and legs. Some of these diagnoses are herniated discs (cervical (neck) and lumbar (back)), spinal stenosis, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, fractures and, rarely, infections or tumors.

Spinal injuries are very common in many sporting activities, especially those that include hyperextension of the lumbar or cervical spine such as football (especially linemen), wrestlers, gymnasts, Olympic divers and torsional athletes such as in baseball players, softball players, and golfers.

At TMI Sports Medicine & Orthopedics we take care of all types of spinal conditions whether they are from sports or work-related injuries to degenerative disorders such as lumbar stenosis, spondylolisthesis and scoliosis.

We coordinate care in a comprehensive approach that includes a board-certified spinal surgeon, board-certified physical therapists, and pain management specialists. All patients that come to TMI Sports Medicine & Orthopedics will be treated in a conservative and comprehensive manner to maximize their recovery and make it as quick as possible to get you back to your active lifestyle while not compromising care. We treat professional athletes and weekend warriors with the same care and compassion.
